We ended last time with Paul and Silas having been arrested and beaten by the Roman magistrates, thrown in the lowest dungeon, and put in torturous stocks. And the reason being they had set someone

palm reader slave free of demons.

Now we take up with them in prison and singing in the midst of this horrible physical suffering. And how is this possible? Because they were filled with the Spirit and

the joy of the Lord which overrides all physical problems.
